Honorable Mention for my latest short story

I was excited to hear that my short story "Carnivores of Can't-Go-Home" earned an Honorable Mention in The Year's Best Science Fiction: Thirty-Fourth Annual Collection. This anthology is the latest in the highly respected sf series from renowned editor Gardner Dozois.

He obviously really enjoyed To Shape the Dark, the anthology my story appeared in, since he reprinted two stories from it (by Shariann Lewitt and Melissa Scott) and gave Honorable Mentions to nine more (by Terry Boren, Constance Cooper, Aliette de Bodard, C. W. Johnson, Gwyneth Jones, Kristin Landon, Jack McDevitt, Anil Menon, Vandana Singh.)

In all, he honored two thirds of the anthology! Editor Athena Andreadis pulled off a similar coup with her previous sf anthology, The Other Half of the Sky. Athena, you are on a roll!

Paperback release day!

The trade paperback version of Guile is out in the world!

It looks great, with lots of reviewer quotes on the back and a very appropriate one from The Bulletin on the front ("A fine gumbo of a book.").

Glowing review of To Shape the Dark at Strange Horizons

Kelly Jennings has written a thoughtful, in-depth review of To Shape the Dark for the pro sf magazine Strange Horizons.

She writes, "Andreadis gives us fifteen stories in which both women and science—real science—are the heroes. I seldom read an anthology with more than one or two really good stories in it; usually at least a quarter of the stories are meh. Here, every single one is not just good, but stellar."

I'm happy that my story is one that she specifically talks about in the review!

Paperback edition of Guile planned for spring

It's official--my publisher is bringing out a paperback version of Guile next spring! Release date has been set for March 14.

The cover will look the same, except for the addition of a quote from the Bulletin that says "A fine gumbo of a book."

To Shape the Dark gets starred review from Publishers Weekly

To Shape the Dark is getting fantastic feedback, including a recent starred review in Publishers Weekly that uses words like "extraordinary" and "dazzles". My favorite part is where the reviewer says that this collection will remind readers why they love science fiction.

Congratulations to editor Athena Andreadis. I'm so happy to be part of this anthology!
